I’ve been writing and editing the Market Talk column for Dow Jones Newswires since September 2005 (I started, incidentally, about two weeks before my wedding. Strange timing, to be sure.) I’ve been at Dow Jones since October 1997 (more strange timing: my first day was Oct. 27, the day the market fell 500 points, at the time the biggest one-day point drop on record (and more on timing: due to a problem with the train, I was an hour late, for my first day; thankfully, I was not fired on the spot, actually, I don’t think anybody noticed,)) and have previously been a copy editor and manager on the copy desk, and a writer and editor on the spot news desk.
Before arriving at Dow Jones, I worked for several years in the 1990s for the Verona-Cedar Grove (N.J.) Times, as an editor, reporter and photographer. In 1997, I received awards from the New Jersey Press Association for reporting and photography.
I graduated from Fairfield University in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in English. I live in New Jersey with my wife and son.
